This video features a second grade lesson designed to support students as they make sense of a comparative subtraction word problem (i.e., a problem in which two quantities are compared to find the difference). Students share different strategies and engage in a classroom discussion that surfaces the importance of labeling models in order to identify what we know and what we are trying to figure out. This work is part of a school-wide Lesson Study effort focused on building TTP classroom routines.
