The Lesson Study Group

See the lesson through students’ eyes 

Teachers conduct a mock-up lesson. Team members role-play students with each of the anticipated solution strategies, imagining what each student might say and do. The team hones the teacher questions, moves and board writing that will make student thinking visible during discussion.

Observe and collect data

In a discussion just prior to the research lesson, teachers explain what kinds of data they want colleagues to collect, and how they relate to the lesson goals and school’s theory of action.
